A visit by Chase to the set of the Louis Night Show was enough to sensitize the Cypriot musician, Tefkros Neokleous, so that he 'opens' his home and the embrace of his family for the temporary hosting of the stray dog.
'This is Chase, and he is almost three years old. He is truly a wonderful dog, ready to give so much love that unfortunately he has been deprived of until now. For the past two years, he has been under the care of the Simba Animal Aid – Cyprus Dog Shelter. Our family took him in for foster care until another family could permanently adopt him. Help stray dogs too, either by adopting from a shelter or by offering foster care until a permanent home is found,' Tefkros wrote on his social media account.
Chase, who was found wandering the streets of Nicosia, ended up being one of the dogs with the longest stay at the Simba Animal Aid shelter. Now, he enjoys the warmth and love that a home and family can offer, especially in a period when weather conditions make the survival of our four-legged friends even more challenging, as they unfortunately are still at the shelter. Although they have fur, dogs can be affected by the cold. Usually, small to medium-sized dogs begin to feel the cold when temperatures drop below 10°C, while larger dogs feel the cold below 5°C. These figures are indicative, but a dog's survival in the cold depends on various factors, including age, fur, breed, weight, health, and the time spent outdoors.
Currently, 120 dogs of various breeds are housed at the SIMBA shelter, while the facilities are designed for 60. The shelter's goal is for no dog to be euthanized, but continuous efforts to find families that can adopt or provide temporary shelter for the stray quadrupeds that end up there. As Tefkros Neokleous encourages us, everyone's help is valuable. Can we follow his example and also open our home and embrace to a stray?"
